We need a Council of War
Oct. 13th, 2007 04:05 pmPeppita? Haven't heard from you in a while - are you alright?
I've been thinking. If so many of us weren't still injured, I'd suggest mounting an attack right now - perhaps we could take our enemies by surprise. As it stands, we still need some way to actually contact the Keepers, lay out strategies, make sure we actually have a chance. It's probably obvious to many people, but the way things are now, we haven't a prayer of winning this war, whether we're a secret weapon or not. Perhaps the Warden could be helpful when he awakes.
I've got a few questions that might be helpful.
One: We must have someone here capable of piloting a starship. Do we have starships? Do we know whether the Entropi do? I think that was implied at one point... Perhaps taking this battle away from the planet would be best. Not to mention I'd quite like to see what this universe's version of Elicoor is like.
Two: Apart from us, what weapons does our side have? Is there anything among them that we can operate? What advantages can we gain from the technology this version of Earth has? I know the ability to transport people through time and space as they've done certainly isn't possible for anyone except those who live beyond the Eternal Sphere in my universe, and, well... They have special privileges.
Three: What intelligence do we have about the Entropi? All we've been told is that they are capable of massive destruction - and the prevailing theory seems to be that storms like the one we just experienced are part of their methods for doing so. What else can they do? Where are they attacking from? Where do they come from?
It would be ironic to find that the Entropi are identical to our captors. Or, in fact, one and the same - a strange twist of fate, but one that I suspect some people would welcome.

Dammit, I wish the others were here. I'm in over my head. Fayt could organize this better. Somehow Fayt always knew what to do, or at least seemed like he did. More likely he's got us all fooled and he was as uncertain as anyone, but isn't that what leading is all about? Cliff, too - that lunk has more brains than he lets on. He used to lead Quark, didn't he? He founded Quark.
The others are all great fighters, and if the Entropi can really cause storms like that, we'll need all the fighters we can get. And Nel was a skilled infiltrator - we need all of those we can get as well. If we can find their base, and perhaps a way in, we'd be able to end this quickly.
Dear Apris, I wish Maria was here. I'm going insane without her or Ather around...

Date: 2007-10-13 09:42 pm (UTC)If we are to attack them, we really do need more information first. I'm not sure why we haven't been informed of their location, their weaknesses, or anything about them at all for that matter. If we're supposed to be here and training to defeat them, then why isn't that taking place at all?
We need to find a way to talk to those in charge here and find out what's going on. It wouldn't surprise me if they had motives aside from what we have been told.

Date: 2007-10-13 09:47 pm (UTC)I have a hunch that the Warden doesn't entirely trust his superiors - after all, he came to us for healing.
A hunch? Great, I'm channelling Cliff.[Screened to Abel | Unhackable]
Date: 2007-10-13 09:59 pm (UTC)Your theory that they are not who they say they are is... disturbing. However, I have an unsettling feeling you may be right, especially as the Warden came to us. When he is able to speak with us, precautions should be taken so that the conversation cannot be overheard. If all of this is true, he may feel more comfortable in speaking freely about our situation.

Date: 2007-10-13 10:14 pm (UTC)It could simply be through the cuffs - they've displayed a great level of control over them before. The normal functions would suffice to keep most people in line.

Date: 2007-10-13 10:19 pm (UTC)If that is true, it implies there is some reason we might not want to fight. On the surface, it appears to ensure that those who are typically pacifists will still give their aid. But if there is instead some other reason we might not agree to help out... I think there is cause for concern. However, we would need to find some evidence to support this rumor before it is worth much consideration.

Date: 2007-10-13 10:24 pm (UTC)I realize this is simply a rumor, but it's one I'd like to consider carefully if our captors do turn out not to be what they seem.

Date: 2007-10-13 10:40 pm (UTC)On the original topic, how do you propose we arrive at these answers? If, that is, the Warden is unwilling or unable to discuss them.

Date: 2007-10-13 11:08 pm (UTC)We need to know our enemy before fighting. Engaging with little intel will only increase our casualties, and I think asking the Warden about the entropi is the most important thing.
(OOC: Will probably be out in a few minutes. Friends will kidnap me to bring me to watch movies or something. If so, I'd be back at night.)

Date: 2007-10-13 10:26 pm (UTC)No kidding. Hey, did anyone in your world ever tell you how we got the Vendeeni away from Elicoor?

Date: 2007-10-13 10:52 pm (UTC)Nope! Everyone was too worried about the Executioners and stuff to talk about that. How did you do it?

Date: 2007-10-14 12:51 am (UTC)So Count Woltar thought of using the Marquis - a giant dragon called Crosell that lives in the Urssa Lava Caves. We had to go through the caves, which was no picnic - they're called the Lava Caves for a reason - and fight Crosell to get him to agree, but he decided to help in the end. So now he carried the Thunder Arrow - sort of a cross between a catapault and an energy cannon - and the Diplo flew down and distracted the Vendeeni while we hit them with a bolt. That stopped them.
